A limited number of studies and evaluation tools have suggested that the live donor psychosocial evaluation should include an assessment of: the donor’s ability to give informed consent, donor motivation, relationship between donor and recipient, donor/spouse agreement, information needs, mental status, coping and personality style, emotional and behavioural issues that may impact on donation, and social and financial support.4–7 The objective of this guideline is to assess and summarize the evidence on psychosocial care for living donors.
