All fracture surfaces were examined under the SEM. Results were analyzed nonparametrically with alpha = 0.05. Results: Under the mode of load applications in this study, TF had the lowest and FlexMaster the highest torsional resistance among the groups (p < 0.05). Scanning electron microscopy examination revealed a typical pattern of torsional fracture for TF, RaCe,
and ProTaper that was characterized by circular abrasion marks and skewed dimples near the center of rotation. In addition to these marks, Helix and FlexMaster presented a selleck compound rough, torn-off appearance. Conclusion: It was concluded that files of same cross-sectional design may exhibit different resistance to fracture probably as a result of the manufacturing process. (J Endod 2010;36:1200-1204)”
“Congenital multiple clustered dermatofibroma (MCDF) is a rare, idiopathic, benign tumor presenting at birth as an asymptomatic hyperpigmented
patch that is stable until puberty, at which time it enlarges and develops papules. Ultimately, MCDF appears to follow a stable, benign course. We present a case of a 12-year-old girl with congenital MCDF. To our knowledge, this is only the third reported case of congenital presentation of MCDF and the only case featuring atrophoderma-like KU-57788 mouse depression.”
“Objectives: To estimate the prevalence of obsessive-compulsive symptoms (OCS) and disorder (OCD) among adolescents and to describe OCD characteristics according to gender. Methods: Participants were selected by cluster sampling at seven high-schools in southern Brazil. In the first stage, 2,323 students were screened for OCS; in the second
stage, adolescents scoring bigger than = 21 on the OCI-R scale were individually interviewed. OCD diagnosis was established using a semi-structured interview (Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School Aged Children: Present and Lifetime Version – K-SADS-PL). Results: The past-month estimated prevalence of OCS was 18.3%, and the point estimated prevalence of OCD, 3.3%. Girls showed higher scores (OCS: 24.8 vs. 14.4%; OCD: 4.9 vs. 1.4%; p smaller than 0.001). Only 9.3% of OCD adolescents had been diagnosed and 6.7% received treatment. The most frequent/severe DY-BOCS dimensions were miscellaneous (86.7%; mean score 6.3 +/- 3.8) and symmetry (85.3%; selleck products 5.9 +/- 3.8). Female OCD adolescents predominantly showed depression (p = 0.032), and male adolescents, tic disorders (p = 0.006). Conclusions: OCD is underdiagnosed in adolescents, and few are treated. Future studies should investigate the relationship between OCS and the onset of OCD.”
“In 2001-2005 we sampled permanently marked big brown bats (Eptesicus fuscus) at summer roosts in buildings at Fort Collins, Colorado, for rabies virus neutralizing antibodies (RVNA). Seroprevalence was higher in adult females (17.9%, n = 2,332) than males (9.4%, n = 128; P = 0.007) or volant juveniles (10.2%, n = 738; P smaller than 0.0001).
